Frequently Asked Questions
Kinship FAQ
Welcome to Kinship, a community created for dancers 18 and up looking for connection, support, and continued engagement with the dance world. Below are answers to some common questions about our network.
General Questions
What is Kinship?
Kinship is a community for adult dancers (18+), whether you’re a former Brown Girls Do Ballet Ambassador, a professional dancer, a dance educator, or someone rediscovering their love for movement. It’s a space to connect, share resources, and participate in events tailored to dancers navigating life beyond their formal training.
Do I have to be a former Brown Girls Do Ballet Ambassador to join?
Nope! Kinship is open to all adult dancers—whether you were part of BGDB in the past or not. If you love dance and want to be part of a supportive community, you’re welcome here.
Who can join Kinship?
Anyone who is 18 or older and wants to be part of a dance-centered community! We welcome dancers of all backgrounds, experience levels, and gender identities.
Membership & Fees
Is Kinship free to join?
For 2024, Kinship is completely free. Starting in 2025, there will be a small yearly membership fee of $25 to help sustain and grow the community’s resources, events, and opportunities.
Why is there a membership fee?
The $25 annual fee helps us maintain Kinship as a valuable resource for members, allowing us to host virtual events, provide networking opportunities, and develop new programming.
How do I pay for my membership?
We’ll provide an easy online payment option before the 2025 membership cycle begins. Stay tuned for updates!
Events & Programming
What kind of events does Kinship offer?
We’re kicking things off with virtual events, including networking sessions, mentorship talks, and discussions on topics like career transitions, injury prevention, and creative movement beyond professional dance. Future plans include in-person meetups, workshops, and collaborations!
How can I stay updated on events?
Sign up at Kinshiponpointe.org to receive event announcements and community updates!
Can I suggest an event or host a session?
Absolutely! Kinship is built for and by its members, so if you have an idea for an event or want to lead a discussion, we’d love to hear from you.
Getting Involved
How can I get more involved with Kinship?
Beyond attending events, you can volunteer to help with programming, share resources, or contribute ideas. As we grow, we’ll also have mentorship opportunities for members who want to support younger dancers.
